Welcome

Choosing an area of study for my master’s work should have been easy–right? After all, as a teacher the natural path would have been to get an advanced degree in literacy or curriculum. It would have been easier if I followed the path of my colleagues. They wanted to earn top dollars as teachers with a masters degree. So, for the most part they paid a lot of money to National University and recieved a MA in some field. By now they’ve forgotton what it was about-but heck they are making more money and that’s what counts–right?
Money didn’t drive my decision to pursue an MA. My husband and I managed our household and children on the money we made. I wanted my next degree to be something completely exciting and challenging and something that I could savor and love for a long, long time.
I knew that it would take me double the time to finish my program because of my responsibilites at home with my children and with my students. I didn’t want to rush through the program-I wanted to take it slow and savor each class and the experiences of the learning community. So, on the day that I became part of the EDTEC community at San Diego State, I knew I had made the right choice. I know the best things in life aren’t about money.
